There are several ways to get down a mountain. Some folks climb back down, others jump off the summit with a parachute… I chose to go down on my backside. Here is a video from a recent expedition on Mount Elbrus in Russia.
My team donned heavy-duty garbage bags, and tightened the straps of our packs to make them as small as possible — then carried them on our front. We’re on snow, which has a tendency to ball up in between one’s legs. This can slow down your ride, so you’ll see when I pause to address this.
Thanks to the track made by my burly teammates, I picked up good speed. This, folks, is glissading.
